Barrett Steel Scotland, a division of the UK’s leading steel stockholder Barrett Steel Limited, are excited to announce the opening of their new 100,000 square foot stock and processing site in Newbridge.
The Barrett family and management team are delighted to continue the growth and progression which we have seen in Scotland over the last 10 years and would thank all our customers, employees, and suppliers for their ongoing commitment to Barrett Steel.
The site is perfectly located to service the entire breadth of Scotland being situated on the M8/9 interchange just outside of Edinburgh. This is a key location for servicing not only customers in in Edinburgh and Glasgow but provides access south to Dumfries and the Borders whilst opening up the West Coast. This complements our existing facility in Montrose which will focus on servicing above the Forth Bridge up to Inverness and the Grampian region.
The investment by Barrett Steel in this new facility is £5.5m on capital expenditure and stock to provide a total stockholding of 5000-6000 tonnes of stock based in Scotland for next day delivery.
The addition of the Newbridge site will expand the businesses processing capabilities making the two depots largely self-sufficient for stock and processing facilities within our two Scotland sites.
This will enable us to provide quick improved lead times with improved efficiencies and speed of processing across Scotland with the introduction of two brand new saw lines. Watch our new video here:
