Barrett Steel Achieves Top Ranking as the Number 1 Business in Bradford

30 June 2023

We are excited to announce our exceptional achievement of being ranked as the number 1 business amongst the top 100 businesses in Bradford. This prestigious achievement was awarded as part of a joint project between The Telegraph & Argus (Bradford), Bradford Council, and the University of Bradford.
The comprehensive ranking project utilised key performance indicators including turnover in 2021, increase in turnover and shareholder funds, to identity the most successful and influential businesses in the region. We are thrilled to have secured the top position as we were surrounded by some renowned names like JCT600 and key local businesses such as Yorkshire Water.

The launch event took place at the University of Bradford on Tuesday the 27th of June and was sponsored by Schofield Sweeny.

Guy Barrett, our Chief Operating Officer, commented: “It’s great to win the award. It was certainly a bit of a surprise. It’s fantastic for us to get top spot.”

We are immensely proud to be recognised as the leading business in Bradford. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our incredible team.

Touching on legacy, Andy Warcup, our current Chief Executive Officer commented ''James Barrett always said we are a successful business because we have the best people who are our greatest asset''

We are consistently demonstrating our commitment to the Bradford community through various initiatives including sponsorships with local teams or people, promoting employment opportunities, and supporting local charitable endeavours such as the upcoming Cricket Festival Week in July in partnership with the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Bradford Park Avenue Cricket Club.

We extend our gratitude to The Telegraph & Argus, Bradford Council, and the University of Bradford as well as our colleagues, customers, suppliers, partners and all those who have contributed to the growth of our company.
