National Highways Sector Scheme 3B

What is NHSS3B

As of September this year there has been a requirement to be certified to National Highway Sector Schemes (NHSS) to enable steel stockholders to be involved in the steel supply chain for work within National Highways areas. We are proud to say that we now have six depots that hold this accreditation (Bradford, Scunthorpe, Dudley, Cradley Heath, Newark and Rotherham) across the group.

The schemes have been developed in the UK by Technical Advisory Committees which included representation from Highway Authorities, Trade Associations, Certification Bodies and training organisations - it is these bodies who manage the schemes and approve businesses for supply in to this sector. Each scheme has its own scope of accreditation of each Certification Body. They have been established to set the standards of supply and to work in conjunction with ISO 9001 quality standards.

Following comprehensive and thorough assessments, Barrett Steel’s Head Office location in Bradford alongside it’s depots in Dudley, Cradley Heath, Newark, Rotherham and Scunthorpe, have attained the National Highways Sector Scheme 3B (NHSS3B) certification, awarded by the UKAS accreditation body the Steel Construction Certification Scheme (SCCS (021).

A mark of quality across the UK

With six depots now certified we can provide extensive UK coverage for the National Highways supply chain. In simple terms this certification includes the supply of steel for National Highways applications such as bridges, gantries, parapets, lamp posts, crash barriers, fencing systems, signage etc.

Receiving a UKAS accredited NHSS3B certificate ratifies that Barrett Steel has in place a robust quality management system alongside it's ISO 14001:2015 certification and CE accreditation such qualifications also demonstrates that Barrett Steel is perfectly positioned to supply structural steel products specifically for all Highways England projects.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work our teams have put in in order to meet the high standards required to gain these accreditations and we look forward to continuing to work hand in hand with the Highways Sector.
