Barrett Steel Racing off to a flying start in 2018

26 March 2018

This weekend saw the first race of the 2018 season for Barrett Steel Racing.
Both Liam and Brendan were in action this weekend but conditions made Saturday a tricky day for racing.

A wet qualifying that dried out come race time made a few riders uneasy, so it was going to be a tough baptism for the new bikes.

Despite the conditions, Liam qualified 12th and took an 8th place with a new PB in race one which delighted over 30 fans that had travelled from all over the country to spectate and enjoy the corporate hospitality.

Sunday was a different weather story. Glorious sunshine beating down on the track meant Liam once again beat his PB and come across the line in 6th position with a time of 1.13.6, This knocked 2 seconds off his times from 2017.

With 6th, 7th and 8th in class finishes first time out, and in a higher tier this season, the team are incredibily positive heading into the next round.

Liam commented:

"This weekend was a big eye opener for me running for the first time in the elite class... The times I pulled this weekend would of put me in pole position on last years grid. The pace is completely different to last year, however, I am enjoying racing at this level and I am ready to knuckle down and keep pushing on!"

If you want to follow Liam and Brendan's progress the next round is at Oulton Park on the dates below.
