Barrett Steel Congratulates Paula Waters-Bunn on her election as Deputy Mayor of Great Yarmouth

25 May 2023

We are thrilled to announce that Paula Waters, our Health and Safety Co-ordinator at Yarmouth Steel Services, has been elected as the Deputy Mayor of Great Yarmouth.
This remarkable achievement reflects not only on Paula’s dedicated to public service but also her exceptional leadership skills and commitment to the community.

Paula has long been an invaluable member of the Barrett Steel team, contributing her expertise and unwavering passion to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are upheld across her operations.
In addition to her professional responsibilities,

Paula has tirelessly served as a local councillor, advocating for the needs and concerns of the Great Yarmouth community. Her election as the Deputy Mayor further demonstrates her dedication to public service and her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her. We are immensely proud of Paula for achieving this significant milestone in her political career.

As a company deeply rooted in Great Yarmouth, we understand the importance of actively supporting and encouraging its employee’s involvement in civic responsibilities. We firmly believe that Paula’s election is a testament to the strength and calibre of our team.

Paula commented ‘’I have been an elected Councillor here in Great Yarmouth for the last 7 years and was re-elected for a further four-year term at the local elections on 4th May 23.  I really enjoy being a councillor, ensuring that concerns and issues that affect my residents in the Southtown and Cobholm ward are raised and clearly heard.

On Thursday 18th May at the Annual Council meeting I was extremely honoured to be voted in and elected as the Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Great Yarmouth for the 23/24 municipal year.  My schedule will start to get a little busier in preparation for, hopefully, becoming the Mayor next year.  It is an honour and privilege to be in this position and I look forward to carrying out my new role.  I think the robe suits me, although it is extremely heavy and weighs around 9lbs!’’

Barrett Steel extends a heartfelt congratulations to Paula Waters on her remarkable achievement. We have no doubt that she will excel in her new role, bringing the same passion, dedication, and expertise that she demonstrates within our organisation.
