Welcome to Barrett Steel Services, our flagship Bradford processing hub and the heart of the UK's largest independent steel network. Since 1866, Barrett Steel has grown from a single Bradford yard into a nationwide group — and this site remains where it all started. Today we hold 5,000 tonnes of stock on-site, backed by group-wide access to over 120,000 tonnes of structural steel, tube, and plate.
As a leading steel stockholder across Yorkshire, we supply fabricators and contractors throughout Leeds and Bradford with fast-turnaround processing: automated saw-drill lines for drilling, milling, and notching, dedicated saw lines for high-volume cutting, and a newly installed automated shotblast and paint line for impeccable surface finishes. Our Rapid Angle line delivers sawn-cut, drilled, and slotted profiles ready to install — cutting time off site programmes for major construction projects.
Whatever the specification, our Bradford team combines local knowledge with the buying power and processing depth of the whole Barrett Steel Group - backed by our own dedicated fleet of over 150 vehicles for fast, reliable delivery, wherever your project is based.
Beyond our local footprint, we run high-volume contract freight delivery direct to Tier 1 project sites right across the UK — combining Bradford's processing capacity with the reach of our own dedicated fleet.
As part of the wider Barrett Steel Group, we also give customers access to the full range of processing across the network Cutting, Drilling, Plate Profiling, Laser Cut, Shotblast and Primer Paint.- plus Handrail and Balustrade solutions including Flooring products such as GRP and Open Steel Flooring, Handrail Clamps and Standards, Barrier Systems and Roof Edge Protection as well as Stainless Steel Handrail Solutions for design.
Long before we were the UK's largest independent steel stockholder, we were a Bradford business with a simple reputation: get customers the steel they need, at the right time, at the right price. That reputation is what once earned us the name the North's friendliest steel stockholder — one we've carried through six generations of family ownership.
Barrett House on Cutler Heights Lane isn't just a depot — it's where Barrett Steel began, and where it's stayed. From here, we've watched Bradford's industry change and grown alongside it, building relationships with local fabricators, contractors, and engineers that in many cases span decades.
Being part of this community means more than supplying steel. It means backing local trade, investing in local jobs, and remaining a business people in Bradford recognise and trust — just as they did in 1866.
