The Barrett Steel Stadium Holds a Fundraising Event for Charity

29 April 2024

Our Scunthorpe Sites and the local Man vs Fat football team came together this past weekend to host an 11-a-side football event at the Barrett Steel Stadium, home of Bottesford F.C, in support of DEBRA Charity.
The event was aimed to raise awareness and funds for DEBRA, The Butterfly Skin Charity.

DEBRA is a national charity and patient support organisation for people living with the rare, extremely painful, genetic skin blistering condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) also known as ‘Butterfly Skin’. EB causes the skin to become very fragile and tear or blister at the slightest touch. With your help we can find treatments and cure(s) for EB.

The Barrett Steel Stadium buzzed as teams from our Scunthorpe Sites and Man vs Fat took to the pitch in a fast-paced, spirited match. Spectators cheered on their favourite team, soaking in the atmosphere and the spirit of friendly competition.

Chris Anderson, our Warehouse Manager commented ''Thankyou to everyone that took the time to come along and play and spectate even in the rain, and also a massive thank you to all that donated to such a worthy cause, the match was competitive and played in good spirits from both sides, with Man vs Fat team running out 4-3 winners.''

Over £1,200 was raised with all proceeds from the event going directly to DEBRA Charity UK to support their efforts in providing vital services, funding research, and advocating for individuals living with EB.
