Barrett Steel is proud to announce the delivery and installation of two cutting-edge Kaltenbach Gietart machines at our Scunthorpe Central Processing Hub, marking the first stage in our initial £7.5 million investment to enhance steel processing capabilities across the UK. The arrival of the Gietart High Speed 3008 shot blaster and High-Speed Primer 2512 painting line represents a major milestone in our ongoing expansion - designed to help customers meet the modern demands of construction efficiently, responsibly, and at scale. Enhanced Efficiency and Quality The Gietart High Speed 3008 offers faster, more efficient surface preparation, capable of handling larger volumes of steel sections and profiles with exceptional accuracy. The High-Speed Primer 2512 ensures beams, profiles, and plates are perfectly coated and protected. Together, these machines deliver a complete solution for high-quality, consistent surface treatment and finishing - providing the ideal foundation for fabrication and installation. By integrating this technology, Barrett Steel can deliver shot blasted and primed material faster, supporting customers in shortening lead times and improving productivity on large-scale projects across the UK. A Major Milestone in an initial £7.5 Million Investment Programme “This £7.5 million investment marks the first major milestone for Barrett Steel as we enhance our processing capabilities at our Scunthorpe Central Processing Hub. The project is on track, with many new machines set to be installed over the coming months. Scunthorpe is a strategically important location for us, with close links to major motorways, steel mills, significant stockholding at Brigg Road, and an additional 45,000 tonnes of capacity at nearby Groveport. We’re proud to be investing in the region and are grateful for the strong support from local authorities, MPs, and local businesses helping to bring this project to life.” – Stacey Garner, Project Manager, Barrett Steel Ltd Building for the Future “As Managing Director of Barrett Central Processing, I am proud and excited to announce that we have broken ground on a major new project – a £7.5 million first-stage investment into the main Central Distribution Hub for Barrett Steel Ltd, based here in Scunthorpe. This state-of-the-art facility, built on over 15–20 years of steel processing expertise, will increase our added-value capacity by nearly 50%. With this, we will deliver standardised, efficient solutions for our customers while ensuring faster turnaround times. At a time when the economy and wider industry face turbulence, this investment sends a clear and confident message: Barrett Steel is committed to being your long-term partner.” – Richard Gawler, Managing Director, Barrett Central Processing Powering the Next Era of UK Construction This installation marks the beginning of a series of upgrades that will see further advanced processing systems added to the Scunthorpe site throughout 2025/2026, supported by our processing centres of excellence in Rotherham, Dudley, and Bradford. By combining technological innovation with a strong focus on sustainability and embodied carbon transparency, Barrett Steel continues to invest in the infrastructure behind UK infrastructure - helping our customers build smarter, faster, and more responsibly.
