Barrett Steel Teams Raise Over £23k for Charities in May

09 May 2023

At Barrett Steel, we are committed to supporting the communities we work in. Our teams are always looking for ways to make a positive impact, whether it's by raising money for charity, volunteering their time, or supporting local initiatives.

This past weekend, our team in Scotland as well as group Accounts Assistant Ashley Owen, stepped up to the challenge and raised over £23k for important causes. Our Business Development Manager, Jennie Lee, lost her mother Margaret to breast cancer, and since then, she has been working tirelessly to raise awareness and support for breast cancer treatment in Scotland.

Jennie and the Scotland Team walked from our depot in Montrose to Edinburgh over three days, battling challenging conditions and raising just over £21k for the Maragaret Lee Breast Cancer Oncology Trust and NHS Lothian Charity. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and grateful for their dedication to this important cause.

Our Barrett walk team included:

Ross Kidd

Jennie Lee

Mark Drever

Scott Clapperton

Dean Haig

Jill Jones

Stephen Pettifer

Jasmine Banks

Derek Scott

John Wilson

Supported by family and friends.

In addition to the breast cancer walk, our Assistant Accountant, Ashley Owen, raised over £2k for Mind UK in memory of his brother, who tragically lost his life to mental health last year. Ashley's efforts help to raise awareness of men's mental health and show that it's okay to talk about our struggles and seek help.

At Barrett Steel, we believe that supporting our communities is more than just a responsibility - it's a privilege. We are proud of our teams for stepping up for these important causes and making a real difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer and mental illness.

We encourage everyone to support causes that are meaningful to them and to work together to create a brighter future for all. Thank you to everyone who has supported our teams and their fundraising efforts.

Together, we can make a real difference in the world.
